19 Stars: Quilts of Indiana’s Past and Present ~QGI members’ quilts

19 Stars: Quilts of Indiana’s Past and Present.

Sadly the exhibit it about to close this weekend, October 4 so get on over there to see it if it was on your to do list!   The exhibit is heading to Evansville next, so there is still a chance to see it if you will be in that neck of the woods.  Oct 24-Jan 10 at the Evansville Museum of Art, History and Science.

I visited the 19 Stars: Quilts of Indiana’s Past and Present exhibit at the Indiana State Museum and enjoyed seeing the beautiful quilts curated by QGI member Mary Jane Teeters-Eichacker where she chose 19 historic star quilts and 19 contemporary star quilts. Indiana was the 19th state to join The Union and next year is the state’s bicentennial. What a great way to get Hoosiers thinking of our upcoming 200th year, since quilts have been an integral part of Hoosiers’ lives.

There were so many, 38 to be exact, beautiful quilts in the exhibit that I decided to focus on QGI members’ quilts in the contemporary part of the exhibit.
