Quilters are always quick to welcome new quilters as they pick up quilting, move to a new area, or just decide to join in finally. Many of us grow deep roots within our guilds and become longtime parts of our quilting communities. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye through death and moves. I don’t usually post them here, but thought since there were two events that ought to be shared, I am.
We say goodbye (but we will still see her occasionally when she visits: I hear she plans to participate in the next show) to an active longstanding member.
Terry Lichtenfelt Farewell Open House
Terry and her husband, Neal, are moving to Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Fitchburg is about 15 minutes from downtown Madison, WI.
The Brick Street Babes are hosting an Open House for the guild’s dear friend which is set for:
6:30PM – 8:30PM
Tuesday, August 2, 2016
The location is:
John Hensel Government Center
10701 N. College Ave.
(Just north of the E. 106th St. & N. College Ave. intersection.)
As her many friends and acquaintances know, Terry has been an incredibly active member of the guild for 23 years!!
We would like to present Terry with blocks so she can make a quilt to remember us all!! If you can, please make a block for Terry and bring it to the Open House on August 2. We’d love for her to leave with enough blocks (and more!) to make a quilt. When she snuggles under it, she will think of us and know how much she is loved and missed.
She would like a ‘scrappy happy block’. 6 1/2 “ unfinished. Anything you want to do – strip/string, log cabin-ish, pieced or appliqued design of your choice–as long as it’s happy and scrappy. If in doubt, just pick your favorite block, your colors, her colors… whatever. She has asked us to sign the block someplace where it will be visible. Terry says “I want to see names when I look at it (probably with tears in my eyes so they should write big).
If you would like to do a block and can’t make it to the Open House, you can give them to me at the next QGIN (August 5th) or QGI (August 11). We’ll get them to her! If you have any questions, contact Lynn Thomas.
A regional quilter passed and her stash is being sold with proceeds going to good causes.
